6'' Layout Square

This is a precious tool for woodworking. It is an easiest and quickest tool for marking a square line for an end cut. The layout square can also be used to quickly measure up to 6 inches or mark any angle up to 45 degree.

Tip:  When you are in woodworking shop, keep one 6'' layout square in your back pocket or nail pouch. You will need it again and again while working.

Utility Knife

It is the required tool for the woodworker. The utility knife has a locking mechanism that uses disposable razor blades, can be used for cutting small pieces of wood. It can also used for cleaning up a pivot mortise or for scribing a mark in a piece of stock.

Tip: Keep a knife with you during working; you may need it hundred of times.

25' Retractable Tape Measure

A woodworker must have a retractable tape measure while working.  The absolute tape measure should have both metric and standard markings, a slightly loose hook on the end of the tape, and also have locking mechanism.

Tip: You should have an absolute retractable tape measure with you during woodworking.

Chisels

It is another necessary woodworking tool. A perfectly sharpened chisel is used for cleaning out wastes from mortises, and joints.

Tip: Keep 1'', ¾'', ½'' or ¼'' width bevel edged chisels with you.

Screwdrivers

The screwdrivers are used by almost every person at any point in their life. This is a fundamental tool for woodworking.

Tip: Keep 1, 2, and 3 sizes of screwdrivers having flat head or Phillips varieties, during wood working.

Level

You need a level, when you want to know whether a piece of stock is perfectly horizontal or vertical.

Tip: You should have one long level of 28'' or 36'' and second short level of 6''.

Sliding Bevel

A sliding bevel has a locking mechanism, and can be adjusted to any angle. When the angle needs to be duplicated, it is very handy.

Block Plane

Every woodworker needs a small block plane. The block plane is used for cleaning up edges during assembly, and is precious for shaving thin pieces of wood from the stock.
